The Tortoise’s Tale

Told from the perspective of a giant tortoise, The Tortoise’s Tale is reminiscent of Remarkably Bright Creatures in that we see the world we live in through the eyes of an animal.

The tortoise was taken from its home island and delivered to an exclusive estate in Southern California. He bonds with many people on the island, but especially the gardener of the estate and Lucy, a young daughter of the estate who names the tortoise Magic.

Magic sees over a hundred years of life on the estate and sees with a tortoise’s eyes the changes and the cultural oddities of the humans who live there.

This short, emotional tale is a fresh look at how humans can treat animals and the land around them. You will fall in love with Magic and hurt for him and the environment he can’t do anything but observe.
